Conquer the Trails with Trail Buster – The Best Pants for Hiking and Trekking

Are you an avid hiker seeking the perfect pair of pants for your adventures? If you’re still looking, we bet you haven’t heard of Trail Buster Hiking Pants, our signature hiking pants designed for the sole purpose of hiking and trekking.

In today’s cutting edge textile world, top of the line brands are racing for a blend of not only high performing fabrics but sustainable fabrics, coupled with design elements that outperform the rigors of nature. The fabrics used in such trekking and hiking pants are stretchy, often coated with Durable Water Repellants (DWR) and offers resistance against windy and wet weather.

But on top of everything, a good pair of hiking and trekking pants must keep you comfortable, protect you from the elements, and even enhance your performance on the trail.

Too much to ask from a pair of hiking pants. But that’s the thing with technical clothing and a spectrum they have to cover in the outdoors. Now let’s see what does our Trail Buster hold in terms of all the technicalities and field performance:

Fabric & Construction:

Trail Buster is crafted from a high quality polyester that offers UPF 30+ sun protection shielding your skin from UV. The fabric offers exceptional durability with its 94% Polyester and 6% Spandex construction. With a fabric construction of this ratio, a miracle happens and the weight of the pants reduce drastically and weighs only 9.80 oz. This enhances the pants’ potential of compression and makes them lesser space occupying gear in the backpack.

Quick Drying:

If skies suddenly go dark and shower its love on you, don’t worry and let Trail Buster take all the beating. It will never accumulate water, which otherwise, would make your apparel heavy. With Trail Buster’s quick drying fabric, water drains out quickly hence retaining its light weight character. As soon as the weather clears up, a 5-minutes of hike will leave your Trail Buster bone dry.

Breathability and Moisture Wicking:

Now if weather is the other way round and you’re trekking on a hot and humid day. The same fabric will turn into a moisture wicking pant and will keep you cool and dry during that intense activity. The breathable nature of the fabric will ensure that you stay dry and not sweat excessively to loose essential minerals. However at the same time, whatever moisture and fluids body secrete as a result of the activity, will be wicked away. This pair of hiking pants will never create malodor, that is normally created as a reaction contact between human skin and synthetic fabrics.

Freedom of movement:

The base fabric offers a four-way stretch that allows for a full range of motion. To further compliment this freedom, the intelligent placement of spandex panels at three key areas (Knees, Crotch & Back yoke) of the pants, neutralize pressure points during high angular and stretch movements.

Storage:

Trail Buster comes with 4 pockets including two side zipper pockets and two welt pockets. The construction of side pockets snugly holds smart phones that won’t wiggle while you hike up or down. Plenty of space to store your essentials like wallet, keys, and snacks in the other side or welt pockets.

In-built Belt:

A belt made of Nylon Webbing with snap buckle forms an integral part of our Trail Buster. Minimal, lightweight yet strong enough to hold pants at a desired position. You can always clip more utility items to the belt like a folding knife or a carabiner or even a chalk bag if you intend to rock climb in trail buster.

Trail buster VS Big Names

We are not trying to exaggerate the goodness Trail Buster has to offer. But with a comparison below, the point is to create reference so that a general perspective on hiking pants could be attained. In other words, to see where Trail Buster stands in the war for comfort and durability.

Outdoor Research – Men’s Ferrosi: OR is a big name in the outdoor industry and its Men’s Ferrosi pants has earned the attention of outdoor enthusiasts lately. It also seems to be a closer counterpart of the Altimate’s Trail Buster hiking pants. The material is nylon-based and far stretchier than that of the Trail Buster with 86% Nylon and 14% spandex. However it is heavier with an average weight of 10.8oz and doesn’t come with an in-built belt. According to Switchback Travel, they aren’t as around town-friendly as some too.

REI Co-op – Trailmade Pants: Another close partner to Trail Buster is REI’s Trailmade pants. The construction is that of 94% nylon and 6% spandex making it less stretchy than Trail Buster. Weighing at 11.06oz, Trail Buster seems to take advantage in being a lightweight option. However, offered in 5 distinct colors definitely is an edge over many top of the line hiking pants in the market. It too, doesn’t come with an in-built belt.

RAB – Incline Pants: RAB claims Incline pants to be 88% polyamide and 12% elastane that weighs around 11.08oz. There are some good reviews about the pants’ durability and strength but cannot overshadow Trail Buster in it’s lightweight construction and compressibility. Switchback travel guys think the pants are a bit too tight in certain areas and their multiple zippers add bulk to the pants. Also, Incline doesn’t come with an in-built belt.

Patagonia – Terravia Trail Pants: A personal favorite, Patagonia has taken the outdoor industry to a new level. Their Terravia stands at about 11.1oz with 86% polyester and 14% spandex construction. Heavier yet more stretchy than Trail Buster. The guys who reviewed Terravia says the pants are too hot for the summer-time temperatures implying that the pants’ construction is that for colder temperatures. Similarly, this would also mean that this pair of pants would be less compressible and packable. But for a weather specific design, there would hardly be a pair of pants as good as Terravia.
