Gocharsar Pass lies amidst the two beautiful valleys of Chitral, the Madaglasht Valley, and Golain Valley. Gocharsar is amongst the three beautiful passes in this region. It is considered a non-technical pass however, we at Altimate Outdoors never underestimate a mountain’s attitude. Hence we pay gratitude and respect to every valley, pass, and mountain that we aim to scale. This approach is rewarding in two ways 1) We add directly to the local economy by engaging local resources as Pathfinder‘s support team 2) It is through the local community that we add an indigenous perspective to our knowledge of mountains and wilderness. However, our Pathfinders’ learning start the moment they share the compact space of local jeeps that will take them to the starting point of their expedition. The trek starts from the lush green valley of Madaglasht meaning Flat ground. Onwards is a journey of embracing a different world. You come across indigenous communities, learn about flora & fauna, experience gushing waterfalls and sparse forests of Pine, Cedar, and Larch. All while pushing yourself to achieve the task of ascent. Across the Ghocharsar Pass, Pathfinders shall descend into the mesmerizing Golain Valley through Lohigal Valley. The marshy pastures of Golain Valley shall reward the Pathfinders with a serene visual experience along with a source of abundant spring water. The trek formally ends at the first village of Istoor. Pathfinders will have some time to interact with local residents before calling it a day. This program will conclude in 8 days with 4-5 days of trekking. A contingency day is kept in the trekking days for circumstances unforeseen. A reason why it’s called adventure.
